Privacy Policy & Disclaimer

Last Updated: January 2025

Introduction

Welcome to scr3n2pdf desktop. Your privacy is not just a legal obligation, but the fundamental principle upon which this application is built. This policy details how the "scr3n2pdf desktop" application (hereinafter "the Application" or "the Software"), developed and distributed by scr3n2pdf.com (hereinafter "We"), handles your data.

Our philosophy is simple: your data is yours alone. The Application is designed ("Privacy by Design") to run entirely locally on your computer, giving you full control.

A. User-Generated Data (Screenshots, Images, and PDFs)

This is the fundamental point of our privacy policy and our commitment to you:

scr3n2pdf desktop does NOT collect, transmit, share, analyze, scan, or store in any way the screenshots, images, PDF files, or any other content generated by the user.

  • Exclusively Local Processing: Any operation of screen capture, image editing, and conversion to PDF occurs entirely within your device's memory and processor. The generated files reside exclusively on your local hard drive or any save path you choose.
  • No Data Transmission: No image or PDF created with the Software is ever sent to our servers or to third-party servers. We do not have the technical ability to access, view, or retrieve your files, even for technical support purposes.
  • The User as Data Controller (GDPR): Under the GDPR, the user is the sole "Data Controller" for any personal, sensitive, or third-party data they decide to capture using the Application.

B. License and Activation Data

The Application makes a single, limited communication via the Internet for one specific and necessary purpose:

  • Purpose of the Connection: Upon launch, the Application may connect to the Internet for the sole purpose of verifying the validity of the software license or subscription.
  • Secure Channels: This communication occurs exclusively through secure channels (HTTPS) and the official API services managed by the Microsoft Store. The entire purchase and billing process is managed by Microsoft.
  • Data Transmitted: The data transmitted is limited to a license token or a non-personal purchase identifier. At no time does this data include information about how you use the app or the content you create.
  • Data Not Collected by Us: We do not receive, process, or store your personal payment data (such as credit card number), your name, address, or other billing information. Such information is managed entirely by Microsoft.

Compliance with Regulations

πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί GDPR (Europe)

We fully comply with the GDPR. We adhere to the principles of "Privacy by Design" and "Data Minimization" (Art. 5) by not processing any personal data generated by users. For license data, the legal basis for processing is Art. 6(1)(b) of the GDPR.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ US Regulations (CCPA/CPRA)

We comply with US privacy regulations, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). We do not "sell" or "share" any personal information of our users, simply because we do not collect identifiable personal data.

Disclaimer of Liability

A. Use of the Software "As Is"

The "scr3n2pdf desktop" Application is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Software will operate uninterrupted, error-free, or be free of bugs.

B. Exclusive User Responsibility for Content

The user accepts full, total, and exclusive responsibility for the entire lifecycle of the data managed through the Application: the creation, storage, management, and eventual sharing of any content.

C. Disclaimer for Specific Content

By using this Software, the user acknowledges being solely responsible for the creation and management of the generated files. We shall in no event be liable for:

  • Capture of Sensitive Data: Damages arising from the capture of personally identifiable information (PII), financial data, login credentials, or protected health information.
  • Copyright Infringement: Claims arising from the capture of copyrighted material without explicit permission.
  • Violation of Third-Party Privacy: Claims arising from the capture of images, faces, or private conversations of third parties without their consent.
  • Data Sharing: Consequences arising from the user's subsequent sharing, distribution, or publication of the created PDF files.
